Using an external MIDI controller can be a great way of giving yourself more control over your effect apps, making it easy to alter effects on the fly – whether you’re recording or jamming live.

Mapping MIDI Controls in AUM and BeatMaker 3

In the tutorial below we show you how to assign the parameters in an AUv3 effect app to controls on an external MIDI controller inside AUM and BeatMaker 3. While mapping effect parameters to a MIDI input is possible in several iOS AUv3 hosts apps, be aware that not all host apps have this function. For example, in Garageband you aren’t able to re-assign MIDI controls to parameters of your choosing.
